Whatsminer Stock Firmware

Official MicroBT stock firmware downloads for all Whatsminer models. Version history, compatibility, and installation guide.

Overview

MicroBT provides stock firmware for all Whatsminer models through their official support channels. Whatsminer firmware uses a different update mechanism compared to Antminer — updates are typically distributed through the WhatsMiner Tool desktop application.

Important: Whatsminer firmware updates must match your exact hardware revision. Using incorrect firmware can render the device unbootable. Always check your hardware version in the miner's web UI under System Info before downloading.

Installation via WhatsMiner Tool

MicroBT provides the WhatsMiner Tool (WMTool) for firmware management:

Step-by-Step

  1. Download WhatsMiner Tool from whatsminer.com
  2. Install and launch WMTool on your PC (Windows only)
  3. Scan for miners on your network using the Scan function
  4. Select the miner(s) to update
  5. Click Upgrade and select the firmware .bin file
  6. Wait for the update to complete — the miner reboots automatically

Batch Updates: WMTool supports updating multiple miners simultaneously. Select all target miners from the scan results before clicking Upgrade.

Alternative: Web Interface

Some Whatsminer models support firmware updates through the web UI:

  1. Access http://<miner-ip> in your browser
  2. Log in (default credentials vary by firmware version)
  3. Navigate to SystemFirmware Update
  4. Upload the firmware file and confirm

Emergency Recovery

If a Whatsminer becomes unresponsive after a failed update:

  1. Download the recovery image for your model
  2. Prepare a microSD card (≤32 GB, FAT32)
  3. Copy the recovery image to the SD card
  4. Insert into the miner and power on
  5. Wait for the recovery process (indicated by LED patterns)

Whatsminer recovery SD cards must use specific naming conventions. The recovery file must be named exactly as specified in MicroBT's documentation, or the miner will not detect it.

Rollback

Whatsminer firmware does not support automatic rollback. To revert:

  1. Obtain the previous firmware version from MicroBT support
  2. Flash via WMTool or web interface
  3. For bricked units, use SD card recovery
