Avalon / Canaan Official Manuals
Official Canaan Avalon miner manuals and documentation. User guides, controller setup, and product specifications.
Overview
Canaan provides documentation for all Avalon miner products including miner modules, AUC controllers, and Raspberry Pi-based controller software. Avalon's unique modular architecture means documentation covers both the miner hardware and the external controller system.
Architecture Reminder: Avalon miners use an external controller (Raspberry Pi or dedicated AUC box) that communicates with one or more miner modules. Documentation covers both the controller and miner components.

Avalon Setup Checklist
For first-time Avalon setup, follow this order:
- Flash controller — Write Avalon controller image to Raspberry Pi SD card
- Connect AUC — Connect AUC controller to Raspberry Pi via USB
- Connect miner modules — Daisy-chain miner modules to AUC
- Power on modules — Connect PSU and power cables
- Power on controller — Boot the Raspberry Pi
- Access web UI — Navigate to controller IP in browser
- Configure pools — Add your mining pool credentials
- Monitor — Verify hashrate and temperatures are within normal range
Power on order matters. Always power on miner modules before the controller. The controller detects modules during startup — modules powered on after boot may not be detected until the next restart.
